Thailand-
December 9-12, 2006
My whirlwind adventure
continued as Andri and I flew on to Bangkok, Thailand
to meet 'Kai', Pappit Chaya Sukannoi of Hearty Shih
Tzu and attend the weekend shows. We arrived in
time to enjoy a pleasant dinner at a Kai's favorite
Chinese restaurant as I became acquainted with "Kai"
and "Nong", Tikhamporn Thamnimitra of
Beloved Shih Tzu.
I was booked into the
'5 star' Prince Palace Hotel located in the heartland
of downtown Bangkok close to the city attractions,
sights and famous 'garment district'. We had arrived
just in time for the weekend dog shows to be held
in a newly opened sports center, indoors with air
conditioning. The spacious, well lit venue featured
carpeted rings and the show was quite well run.
'Roman' and I had an
exciting time in the ring, finishing his Thailand
Championship in style, winning a Reserve Best In
Show and Best In Show at the Toy Dog Specialty.
There was a large entry of quality Shih Tzu and
I was lucky to have been so fortunate to do the
winning I had. Best In Show at the All Breed Show
was a Canadian bred Pomeranian, Thai Can Ch Chriscendo
Cat Call, bred by Christine Heartz of Chriscendo
Poms of Canada.
The following morning
we visited with "Kai' at her shop and kennel.
The dogs were well cared for in immaculate surroundings.
We pampered ourselves again with a visit to a 'spa'
and compulsory treatments including a superb massage.
The 'tradition' of shopping continued in the short
time I had to spend in Thailand after the show.
'Kai' continued to spoil me with lavish gifts, including
jewelry and some handmade jackets and pants of Thai
silk which they would send to me when I arrived
home.
The final night in
Bangkok was a culinary experience as we dined at
the famous Seafood Market Restaurant advertising
'If it swims, we have it'. You started by selecting
the raw food for your meal in a market type atmosphere
and then turned it over to the chefs to transform
it it to a meal 'fit for a queen'. Joining us for
the evening was Alonkot Sungkahapong "Kob"
of Starfighter Shih Tzu. The evening was a terrific
celebration of an exciting visit to two beautiful
countries, their people and dogs.
I was booked on the
'red eye' back home with the long journey via Amsterdam
immediately following dinner. My trip to Indonesia
and Thailand was an awesome experience. "Roman"
and Manny" would be staying indefinitely and
I bid a sad farewell to them, knowing they would
be well cared for and I would see them soon. Thank
You to my hosts 'Andri & Agus'
of La Verne Shih Tzu, Indonesia and 'Kai' of Hearty
Shih Tzu, Thailand who had made my visit a memorable
and cherished one. I departed with an invitation
from them to return soon to visit my new found friends
who were quickly beginning to feel like 'family'.
