ASTC
National Report
Day 2
Jody arrived from Louisville,
after yet another overnight drive. She arrived home
from the weekend shows and had to get dogs ready
and repack and could not leave until late afternoon.
We awoke after a great
nights sleep, refreshed and ready to get dogs ready
for the coming shows. The 2 Wendy's were off to
Mandy's to see her new home and bath out some puppies.
'Jody was still ten toes up' and planned on staying
in bed until early afternoon. Richard continued
schmoozing and helping sort out auction and raffle
donations.

Today's afternoon activities
included an excellent Grooming Seminar given by
Greg Larsen. The attendees were treated to an 'A
to Z' lesson on how to condition and groom a Shih
Tzu for the show ring. Registration of all participants
who attend the National ran most of the afternoon
with everyone receiving an enormous welcome bag
chocked full of goodies. Barbara Ann Ewer and her
assistants are to be congratulated on assembling
the 'much sought after bags' and the numerous gifts
and treats donated by members and vendors participating.

Another event which
takes place today is the ASTC Board Of Directors
meetings which run from 7:30 am and end in the early
evening. This dedicated group lead by President,
Sally Vilas undertakes the large responsibility
of dealing with an extensive agenda of items which
will shape the direction the club will move in during
the years to come. All members owe them our heartfelt
thanks for completing this unheralded task on our
behalf.

The evening activities
included a Happy Hour/Meet & Greet which is
an excellent opportunity to rub shoulders with fellow
members and Specialty participants in a relaxed
and casual atmosphere. This year was well attended
as the location was near the ballroom and the vendor
booths.

After the 'meet and
greet' we went out for dinner at a restaurant in
the beautiful 'Brickyard' district surrounded by
the lazy ambiance of canals and river in this downtown
area. The restaurant was called Chelino's and an
army of waiters heaped plates of Mexican appetizers
on us which encouraged our indulgence in the many
Mexican drinks and beer. Thank heavens for designated
drivers as many a margaritas and cold beer were
consumed. The food was also delicious and definitely
lived up to the billing as one of the best 'Mexican'
restaurants in Oklahoma. Sleep came easy when we
finally finished exercising the dogs. Tomorrow would
be an easy day as we had no dogs entered in the
sweepstakes as our good friend and fellow breeder
Pat Martello was judging.
