New York Report 2006
Day 6, Monday, February
13
Westminster
The big day had finally arrived and
Shih Tzu judging was scheduled for around noon. All
the dogs had to be in the building before 11:30 am
as this was a benched show. The atmosphere in the
"Garden" was electrifying. All areas are
crowded with dogs and people.
There was an entry of 14 Shih Tzu with
the only dog absent being our own Am Can Ch Wenrick's
Affair to Remembre. We would be well represented with
Jody showing "Colin" Am Can Ch Wenrick's
Doll Collection, Jenny showing "Shane" Am
Can Ch Chantilly's Planet Hollywood, Wagner showing
"CJ" Am Can Ch Wenrick's Quite The Affair
and Mandy showing "Emmy" Am Can Ch Winterholme's
Hollywood Award.

After judging we enjoyed
wandering around the show watching the various breeds,
visiting booths and talking to spectators and fellow
breeders in the benching area. In the evening we took
advantage of visiting the hospitality area for Purina
Pro Club members and the lavish spread they had on.
It included lobster, crab legs, barbecue ribs, chicken
and sausages as well as a variety of finger food appetizers,
salads and of course celebratory beverages.
The complete Westminster
results can be found at www.westminsterkennelclub.org
including video of all the various breed judging.
The following day we
were back at the dog show to watch some exciting judging.
We also found time for some additional shopping and
sightseeing, including the Empire State Building and
it's magnificent view of New York city. In the evening
we were off to Bubba Gumps Seafood restaurant in Times
Square where we were treated to an awesome array of
seafood delights and an entertaining meal with the
help of our excellent waitress. It was then back to
Madison Square Gardens to watch the remaining group
judging and eventual crowning of Rufus the colored
Bull Terrier for Best In Show with Canadian judge
Jim Reynolds. It was then back to our rooms to pack
and get ready for the long trip home the next day.
Our trip to New York was rewarding and exciting and
we looked forward to visiting again next year.
